| Subject: | Credit back on track. |
| Question: | Hello, I had filed Ch. 7 Bankruptcy in 2004. All my debt was discharged during bankruptcy, and I have been attempting to repair my credit. Unfortunately, every attempt has been met with negative responses. I just can't seem to repair it. I have had a stable job for over 3 years, and have been paying all my bills ( cell phones, satellite, rent, utilities, car insurance, appliance rentals etc.) on time. And have been for 3 years straight. Yet, whether it be an In-store credit card, or a bank issued credit card, I get denied. In fact, when I inquire as to why I am denied, they say 1. Bankruptcy in the past, and 2. I have a credit score of zero. I don't understand how I can have a zero credit score. I would like some advice on how to obtain/repair my credit. I know bankruptcies can last up to 10 years, but I was told by my attorney at the time I filed, that I can still obtain credit a few years after I file. i have heard of Pre-paid credit cards, but this does not seem an option for me. Whatever advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
| Answer: | Dear Jared,
Unfortunately the bills you're paying aren't reportable to the 3 credit agencies. Since they're not reported, credit granters won't know your 3 year history. In the past if a consumer filed for bankruptcy, banks would line up to extend credit lines months after the bankruptcy was discharged. Welcome to the new world of credit. Long gone are the easy accessible lines of credit. Look into obtaining a prepaid visa card that reports monthly to a credit bureau. Fortunately through Ontrack Financial Group you can have access to that card. For more information please visit the following link and input your contact information: https://www.ontrackfinancialgroup.com/Contactus We will contact you to discuss the benefits of the card and answer any other questions you may have.
